The Norwegian Hydrographic Service represents Norway in the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO).
The Norwegian Hydrographic Service is also represented in the Nordic Hydrographic Commission, the North Sea Hydrographic Commission, the South Africa and Island Hydrographic Commission, the Hydrographic Commission on Antarctica (ARHC), ESEAS (European Sea Level Service), GLOSS (Global Sea Level Observing System) and IBCAO (International Bathymetric Chart of the Arctic Ocean).
Norway, through Primar Stavanger, has assumed the task of distributing electronic charts on behalf of other hydrographic services through a RENC collaboration. These are distributed worldwide, and 13 countries are currently part of the collaboration. The collaboration is based on bilateral agreements between the Norwegian Hydrographic Service and the different member countries.
The Norwegian Hydrographic Service shall be an active driver, advisor and coordinator for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, represented by Norad, for design of Norwegian maritime aid.
